Redescription
Scientific Name Notes Jadhav and Shinde (1989), in their description of P. djeddensis distinguish their new species from "P. trygoni". While they do not give an authority, they list "Jadhav B.V., William Threlfal (1986) - On a new species of the genus Polypocephalus, Braun, 1878 (Cestoda: Lecanicephalidae) from India. Ind. J. Helm. 36 No. 1 51-55." in the references. Extensive literature searches indicate that this paper was never published. The name Polypocephalus trygoni is thus considered to be a nomen nudum, unavailable for nomenclatural purposes. Mote (2012) also uses this name when comparing his new species to other Polypocephalus species, but does not given an authority or reference.
