Redescription
Scientific Name Notes Phyllobothrium musteli (Van Beneden, 1849) Southwell, 1925 was originally described as Anthobothrium musteli Van Beneden, 1850. This description contains two species, which Ruhnke (2011) treated as Orygmatobothrium (Van Beneden, 1850) Diesing, 1863 and Paraorygmatobothrium musteli (Van Beneden, 1850).no figures in original description of Van Beneden, 1849 see Van Beneden (1850) for a more complete description (incl. figures) of this species Southwell (1925) stated that “it appears certain that van Beneden, 1850, under the name A. musteli, described twp different worms, viz.: (1) a larval form which Diesing, under the name O. versatile, made the type of the genus Orygmatobothrium; Zschokke, in 1888, described the adult worm under the name Anthobothrium (Orygmatobothrium) musteli, in some detail; and (2) an adult form measuiring 75 mm. to 100 mm., which in this paper is referred to the genus Phyllobothrium and named P. musteli (van Ben., 1850, pro parte).”
