Scientific Name Notes Van Beneden (1849; cit 471 pg. 191) mentioned Bothriocephalus bifurcatus with his use of the name "Acanthobothrium" n. gen.. In doing so he created the new combination, but the name Acanthobothrium was used without a diagnosis and thus was a nomen nudem at that time, making the combination unavailable.
