Scientific Name Notes Jadhav et al. (1986), Jadhav and Shinde (1989), and Jadhav et al. (1991) distinguish their new species from P. braunii and list "Shinde, G. B., 1981. Polypocephalus braunii n. sp. (Cestoda: Lecanicephalidae) from R[h]ynchodon typus at Veraval. Biology III: 55-59." in their references section. Extensive literature searches indicate that this paper was never published. The name Polypocephalus braunii is thus considered to be a nomen nudum, unavailable for nomenclatural purposes. Mote (2012) also uses this name but without authority or reference.
