Redescription
Scientific Name Notes Listed in Schmidt, 1986 as synonym for Monobothrium wageneri Nybelin, 1922. Monticelli (1892) placed this cestode in Caryophyllaeus as a new combination, Caryophyllaeus tuba. Nybelin (1922) studied 2 of the tapeworms identified as C. tuba by Monticelli (1892) and proposed a new name, M. wageneri, to avoid homonymy of C. tuba of Monticelli (1892) with C. tuba von Siebold, which he considered to be a synonym of Cyathocephalus truncatus (Pallas, 1781).
